Karhu is extremely proud to share our latest project in collaboration with Erik Bruun, Finland’s famous graphic designer!
Karhu asked Erik Bruun, now 92 years young, and still working daily, to create a special image to celebrate Karhu’s long legacy as a sports brand.
Known for designing nature inspired banknotes, stamps, and his first love, posters, there was no better match than to team up with the master himself.
Erik Bruun combined his love for the outdoors, animals, and Karhu’s rich sports history to draw a beautiful image featuring Finland’s national animal, the “Brown Bear”, which is also the brand logo and name (Karhu means bear in Finnish).
Karhu x Erik Bruun “Champion Bear” Video Karhu met with Mr. Bruun at his beloved house on the small islands of Suomenlinna, situated in front of Helsinki’s harbour. Together we created a video, showing Erik Bruun at his favourite place in the house, his workroom. Here he talks about his design inspiration and how this stunning image came to life.YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/P7Y8E0jPlTQVideo by @mauritshelfensteijnKarhu x Erik Bruun “Champion Bear” tote bag and posterTo take Erik Bruun’s “Champion Bear” around the world, we have created a sturdy tote bag. Since Mr. Bruun loves to see his art on posters, the project would not have been the same without creating a poster featuring his beautiful artwork. Both the special edition tote bag and the poster (240 grams o set printed on natural paper A3 format) are exclusively available at the Karhu Store in Helsinki. As an extra, the poster will be gifted when purchasing Karhu products while supplies last.Launch info Karhu x Erik Bruun “Champion Bear”Poster: available from Saturday, the 14th of July, exclusively at the Karhu Store Helsinki.Tote bag: available from Saturday, the 14th of July, exclusively at the Karhu Store Helsinki.Karhu Store Helsinki Location: Google MapAbout Erik BruunErik Bruun is a Finnish graphic designer born in Viipuri April 7th 1926.
